From Dr Haroon Rauf :
Hi Myles,
What a sad state we find ourselves in.
The once wonderfully inspiring, educated football manager who took a club to fight the mighty Manchester United taking 3 titles from them and reaching a CL final within 10 years of arriving (and 4 FA cups).
To a state were he is mocked, rivals asking for him to stay, Gooners too tired to complain anymore.
How many years have we been screaming for a CB and DM? But we “haven’t worked a day in football” so why would anyone listen to us?
If you buy a CB in Mustafi, and he is not good enough… you STILL need a new CB.
If you buy a DM in Xhaka, and he is not good enough… you STILL need a new DM.
“I’ve turned down the world to honour my contract.”
Is that the most arrogant comment ever made by Wenger? By any manager in the world? If not, I would love to hear the others.
There is a common saying that all the pundits say on match day. “Play your best team.” All very logical.
Yet Wenger played Elneny, Xhaka and Jack, for the first time, against Tottenham away.
Then he played Chambers, Mustafi and Koscielny (for the first time) with Xhaka -Ramsey-Jack (for the first time) in front of them in a cup final.
Wenger is experimenting with the team for the biggest matches of the season.
He doesn’t know his best keeper, his best defence, his best midfield partnership, who his two wingers should be, or who should be up front when Lacazette and Aubameyang are fit.
How many Arsenal fans said before the final “I don’t know who Wenger will pick…”
It would “piss him off” if Giroud didn’t go to the World Cup, so I’m sure he would be just as pissed if £50m Lacazette didn’t go either.
What’s the odds £62m Auba finishes the season on the bench?
Myles says:
His arrogance is phenomenal.
That’s why David Dein fell out with him two years ago, I heard. Although they do still speak to each other.
