From Colin Shanner: A very interesting and relevant point made
The Spurs goals came in 14 and 65 and 75.
Liverpool’s came in 29 and 60 and 68.
What do Liverpool and Spurs have in common?
Second-half running power.
If you recall, the Wenger teams of ’98-’04 scored in similar sequence.
Due to: Running Power, particularly Second-half running power.
I’ve often said my favourite football scoreline is 3-1.
We score a goal in the first 45 and go in for a cup of tea at one-nil.
We score a second in first 20 minutes of the second-half to make it 2-0.
The opponent pulls one back before the 75th, setting up a nervy, exciting, fun, and dramatic finale.
We then kill the game off on the counter in the last 5 minutes, allowing us all to draw welcome breath and enjoy the waning minutes knowing 3 points are safely tucked away.
Now that is a proper thrilling Arsenal football match!
*The 98-04 teams won many a match in this same favourite style.
Myles says:
Thanks, Colin. What a memory you have.
Life is fun, I find, if you’re still learning.
And I’m still learning from my kids, friends and readers.
