Thanks to reader Alex Blohm for this:
“Last season, Özil was the 6th-most creative player in the EPL, bettered only by the likes of Hazard and Suarez, creating 76 chances for his teammates.
“This season he is in a similar vein, on 34 chances created despite missing games through injury: not quite as good, but not far off last season’s rate. Nevertheless, he is perceived to be poor value for money; is it laziness? No, since returning to the team at the start of the year he has run further than any other Arsenal player.
“Much of his impact is off the ball, as well as on the ball. Özil’s contribution is not always visible, not always measurable, but it is always significant. “

Very good young writer, Rory.
I should buy The Times more often just to read him.
But I buy a helluva lot of papers already & don’t read them.
Jan does because she’s a news-junkie. And I like to support a struggling industry.
