The team played well.
They gave a good account of themselves.
They outplayed Monaco for the most of the game, after the first 10 minutes.
Arsenal deserved to win against a team who always defended with seven men and never attacked with more than four.
On March 17th , 2015 it came to pass that Arsenal were one goal short of Top 8 in Europe.
After 85 minutes, I thought still thought Arsenal would get another goal. Even in stoppage time, I thought they’s get a goal, a penalty, win it somehow.
On Tuesday morning I firmly believed that Arsenal would win 1-0 or maybe 2-1, as I wrote here.
In the Champions League, somehow, you always need another goal and it’s always very hard to get it, so you just fall short. That’s happened to Arsenal ever since they played their home games at Wembley for two years.I saw all those Wembley games when I was a journalist and it was a stupid, self-defeating experiment.
Own up time: I was wrong to say Arsenal are a Top 16 club.
