From Haroon Rauf :
The Arsenal merry-go-round for a striker continues and we are forever more a laughing stock in Europe.
We all heard rumours about Benzema a few years ago. Thank you Myles for posting that the board vetoed his wages and pulled the plug on the deal… twice.
We didn’t want to bid over Napoli’s £32m for Higuain, who went on to smash records in italy and 3 years later at nearly 29 is sold for £75m.
No point discussing Suarez as we all now how much of a joke we are with that, £100m wouldn’t bring him to Arsenal now.
But Vardy? Why can Chelsea pay to tempt Kante away but we can’t tempt Vardy?
That’s a massive flaw in our recruitment policy if we can’t tempt someone from Leicester to be our main CF with Ozil and Sanchez supporting.
It’s an inflated market which needs inflated bidding to get the players you need. Starting the season with Giroud as CF, Theo/Oxlade as wingers and no new CB to partner Koscielny means we remain static whilst the others strive to improve.
Wenger is neglecting the needs of the team. If he can’t get the big names in, he should be pressed to move on by the fans.

Re: A defence of Wenger’s (so-far) strikerless summer, and why Mahrez would make sense
Hi,
Just a thought about what Joe Murphy posted.
He reckons we might buy a wide player before a striker.
And you admit both Theo and the overrated Chamberlain have been a waste of time and money. I strongly agree with you.
Now we all know what would happen if we signed a Mahrez. A good quality player for that right wing.
The team becomes better but you get a lot of unhappy, overpaid and overrated players not getting a game.
Theo, Ox, Campbell, Welbeck, Iwobi, Ramsey, Wilshere have all been beneficiaries of that gap in the team and will continue to be.
What then if everyone is fit? I’d say that gap won’t be filled and it will be Ramsey’s to fill, with the occasional Ox and Wilshere.
On the striker front, everyone talks about Giroud. Giroud this, Giroud that, his numbers and an Improvement on him.
Where’s Welbeck in all that? WHERE ARE HIS NUMBERS? who do we actually need to improve on between the two?
We had Giroud scoring his 15 league goals a season and we all agreed an extra striker was needed.
Arsene tried to get Higuain then Suarez and eventually got his man.
So what does it say about him that we needed a striker, signed him and still our need for the striker got worse?
Myles says:
It’s not just recruitment.
It’s coaching. Better coaching could have improved Ox and Theo.
And his fitness record is pitiful.
Yesterday I was told that that Arsenal’s injury record over the last 10 years is the worst in any major European League.
How does Wenger get away with it? Because he runs the whole club and apparently plans to hire Eddie Howe to work under him.
