Will Fabregas allow Guardiola to change football tactics forever?

Last summer I wanted Cesc Fabregas to go home and play for a team that deserved him.

I wrote two pieces here saying that. I can’t find those articles but remember writing them – that’s enough.

I explained why he should be sold by Arsenal to Barcelona: because great players should play in great teams.

Fabregas is 24 and  one of the world’s most unique footballers.

He can start a move, improve a move, control a move, make goals, score goals, shape a group of attackers anywhere on the pitch,  and also talk more sensibly about the game than most managers.

He’s one of the brainiest footballers we’ve ever seen and a model pro.  He’s far better than Ardiles or Modric because he can score goals.

Although Fabregas is the  well-mannered son of a middle class property developer, he’s as hard as nails and very ambitious.

An article in Goal.com, brought to my attention this morning by reader  Palli, suggests that Pep Guardiola has plans for Barcelona that would be impossible to implement without the acquisition of Fabregas.

This is  a must-read article .

It starts by quoting what Italian coach Arrigo Sacchi, who claimed  the next revolution in football tactics would come when specialist players would be replaced by all-rounders, so that the whole pitch would become a midfield.
