Sterling and Dele must repay loyalty of Gareth Southgate

From Rhys Jaggar :

The final part of the England jigsaw….

Dele, Lingard and Sterling adding the killer pass to Kane to their fine attacking movements.

Honestly, Kane could have had three on Saturday if Dele uses the outside of his right foot, Sterling lays on Kane instead of shooting after keeper saves his attempt to round him and if Sterling hits a killer cross left-footed to Kane second half.

England beat Sweden comfortably 2-0 without using their most lethal striking asset.

So if they can do that, as well as doing all the good things they are already doing, they have a wonderful chance of taking charge of the semi-final.

It is a semi-final, so stepping up again from the QF is necessary.

Bad opponents in the SF do not exist.

Southgate has been extremely loyal to Dele and Sterling in this tournament.

Wednesday is the night they need to repay him.

If they do, I genuinely believe that England will win.

Myles says

I agree. About 10 million England fans probably feel the same.

Many recent England managers have tweaked and tinkered.

Gareth doesn’t and won’t. His data guys must have looked at the marginal gains of such substitutions and found them to be far less than most people imagine.

That’s one of the prime lessons of the last two weeks.

It’s become clear that Southgate’s starting eleven is his favoured team and the only time we will see a change is when somebody is injured, which can happen at any time.

Our humble leader Gareth Southgate is a modern technocrat.

But he’s also an exponent of old school wisdom: If it ain’t bust, don’t fix it.
