Sol Campbell return / Ade’s shirt gaffe / Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll

Sol Campbell will be on the bench in February-March-April, I think.

He played half of a reserve game at West Ham last night, which Arsenal won 4-2.

As back-up, playing behind Song, the old boy might be OK.

He played 135 Premier League games for Arsenal over five years.

He’ll be more reliable that Silvestre or Senderos. That’s not my opinion, it’s Wenger’s opinion.

A lonely, paranoid, mixed-up character, Sol Campbell has had a fantastic career for a guy who can’t pass the ball. He’s achieved a lot. He has nine brothers and Tony used to go and see every game at the Lane. But Sol did not tell Tony that he was leaving Spurs for Arsenal.

Sol says he’s “ecstatic” to be back at Arsenal. We don’t doubt that.

Remarkable to see Togo’s statesman Adebayor talking sensibly about the shooting tragedy in Angola.

Togo went home for three days of mourning.

Roberto Mancini has said Adebayor should take time off, as long as he needs, on compassionate grounds.

But when Mancini sees Ade on the news wearing a white polo shirt with a huge Arsenal logo he might have said something else.

Like, “Who pays your f***ing wages?”

Last night we went to see a film about a crippled songwriter I knew.

Thought it might be a rather weird experience but it wasn’t. I was fine with it.
