Louis Saha would be a good short-term striker for Arsenal.
But Arshavin says he doesn’t think Wenger will sign anyone.
Saha is fast, French, technical, very good with his head, would fit in quickly, and would play well with Fabregas and Arshavin.
He was at Clairefontaine with Gallas and Henry. Coaches told Gallas he wasn’t gonna make it as a striker.
Everton would be mad to let him go, however. He wants a new deal there : three more years on £60,000 a week.
David Moyes can’t give Saha that because of his injury record and because he can’t get 90 minutes out of him now, let alone in three years time.
BOLTON?
It’s slightly weird for Owen Coyle to leave Burnley and go 31 miles down the road to manage Bolton.
They play Arsenal on Sunday at 4pm and six days isn’t long enough for Coyle to change Bolton’s style of play.
He can’t change it too quickly and, since he knows how Arsenal play, he will not want to change too much right now. If Bolton play a possession game, Arsenal will win. If Bolton hit good crosses and corners, it might be close.
DROGBA ?
Watching the Ivory Coast draw with Burkina Faso, I reckoned Ivory Coast will do better in the World Cup than they will do in Angola.
Their team is Didier Drogba+10. The Chelsea star dominates too much.By playing to him they become too predictable. That works against the Ivorians.
In the African Cup of Nations, Drogba is a big, strong boy playing against other big, strong boys.
Burkina Faso, a team of giant warriors, read the Ivory Coast like an open book, marked Drogba out of the game, and coasted to a 0-0 draw.
Golden Rule of tournaments : don’t don’t dont lose your first game.
Despite his diving, I’ve always liked Drogba as a bloke, and that was confirmed by talking to French journalists who know him. It’s really not easy to live the life he has lived.
He is trying to use his fame to build a 200-bed hospital in Abidjan, his hometown. He has pledged all of his £3m Pepsi sponsorship money to the project. Any footballer who does that gets my vote. Drogba is West Africa’s Niall Quinn. One of the good guys of his sport.
Ivory Coast play Portugal on June 15 and I fancy them in that game.
Then they play Brazil on June 20 and North Korea on June 25.
Mark my words : Drogba will score more goals in South Africa than he will in Angola.
