Scott Parker/lap of dishonour/3rd or 4th?

From Rhys Jaggar

In the Arsenal business plan, how does the club see the Gooner demographic?

Is it becoming just a tourist destination?  Is the club actively  building closer and closer ties with foreign AFC supporters clubs?

Who knows? But probably AST have an idea, the membership department will certainly know etc etc.

Hope you’re well away from the great Mississippi floods!

Boulder is after all on the upper reaches of one of the tributaries. Amazing the floods in US and Colombia being matched by a drought here in SE England. Send the rain here please!

I was in Philadelphia on business one year when the Phillies got the World Series. I don’t know anything about it and to be honest watching it isn’t my thing. But it’s big in Japan I hear……

Wenger can’t have any excuses about Scott Parker.

Arsenal are the only side he’d walk into the first team in the top 5 or 6. He’s already in London so that’s cushty. And having the PFA player of the year issuing a few choice verdicts on some pampered play things would do the world of good.

So the logic for a purchase by Arsenal is far greater than for Man Utd, Spurs or anyone else for that matter.   Because I can’t see QPR getting into the Champions League next season, which is what Parker would want at his age…..I have to say if Wenger turned Scott Parker into Arshavin v2, you’d have to start questioning his management.

Saturday’s 2-1 defeat by Villa was one of the worst displays I’ve seen  in years.

OK, if van Persie’s shot goes in rather than against a post, game on. But apart from Vermaelen, who was sharp and good, the rest were poor. Can’t comment on the disallowed goal as it was at the other end. But most of us walked straight into the bar at the final whistle as a sign that we weren’t applauding the players for the season past.

It’d serve Wenger right if Arsenal finish 4th. They deserve to after the performances at Stoke, Bolton and against Villa.

And if they get knocked out in qualification, as they might if they drew Bayern, he might get sacked.

You think that would be sufficient motivation for him to buy proper players this summer, to ensure that he doesn’t??

Myles replies:

I’m waiting for Wenger to do something that impresses me.

I judge any manager by his actions, not by his promises and explanations.

In 2010-11 the only time he surprised me was when he gave  Jack Wilshere a chance. I was sure that Jack should have been in the team sooner. But I will never be sure that Jack would have got his chance if Denilson and Diaby had been fit at the start of the season.

In other words : In Arsene I DON’T trust.

On what I’ve seen and read while I’ve been in USA for the last two weeks, Pat Rice and Wenger should resign in tandem. They should cycle down Holloway Road in red helmets, red shirts and white shorts and never be seen again.

The club needs a clean break and a different culture. It’s not just the character of the players, its the Colney Creche culture.

When Sammi Hyypia mugged Senderos  at Anfield, the guy burst into tears in the dressing room, allegedly. Then,  it was rumoured,  the centreback phoned his mum and dad in Switzerland !

Last headline I saw said the board will insist Wenger buys British. If only !

Two years ago, AFC needed 5 players as good as Vermaelen, not one.

The board is now Stan and Ivan.

Danny’s death gives Ivan more power, I think.
