Rooney should have started against Spurs, who deserved the win

Man United 2 Spurs 3

Vertonghen 2, Bale 32, Nani 51, Dempsey 52, Kagawa 54

The game kicked off and left back Vertonghen immediately showed Gareth Bale what to do at Old Trafford : run at them, take them on.

Vertonghen roared forward into the box, onto a pass from Bale, and hit a shot which deflected in off Jonny Evans for 1-0 to Spurs.

In 32, Sandro won the ball and found Dembele and he released the superfast Welshman, who annihilated Rio Ferdinand and scored with a right foot shot low across Lindegaard for 2-0.

United\’s old players are far too slow now and AVB\’s powerhouse midfield just ripped them to shreds.

You can\’t start with Giggs-Scholes-Carrick !

No legs. Football is a game of running.

And if Wayne Rooney was fit enough to start the second half at 6.30 pm, he was fit enough to start the game at 5.30.

Rooney came on at half-time when United were 2-0 down and within six minutes he had crossed to the near post for Nani to stab in. Then a Bale thunderbolt was blocked by the keeper and Clint Dempsey scored his first goal for Spurs, so it was immediately 1-3.

Then  Van Persie supplied Kagawa and he slotted very neatly for 2-3.

Sir Alex’s substitutions were as bad as his initial selection.

Don\’t bring on Welbeck, bring on Chicharito, who could have saved   that game.

Rio is on the way out, while Evra has gone completely-and he was captain!

Dembele has replaced Modric and while he plays much deeper than Modric did, in away games his job
will be to release launch Bale and, in time, the injured  Adebayor,

The United defence is a shambles this season, partly because they have no midfield. They\’ve conceded the first goal in five of their six games. Watching United at Anfield, I was dismayed that two great teams had sunk to that level.I was dismayed by their ineptitude.

I think Spurs have a more coherent team than Manchester United.

Football is still about players and the desire of players to play for each other, to compete. Sure, Spurs sat back when 3-1 up and Scholes then ran the show and  Spurs got battered in the last half hour but
they held on to win 3-2.

While the United team is too old, Liverpool\’s team is too young but that didn\’t stop them winning 5-2 at Norwich, thanks to a Luis Suarez hat-trick.
