Poser Giroud is Almunia up front

From Steve Gorac : Giroud and Chambers

As always your summary is to the point Mr P.

Never was a great footballer myself but could hit the ball well with my left peg. And never recall failing to connect in the way that Giroud did last night.

He is basically Almunia up front. He’ll have his good games every once in a while but a stinker is always waiting around the corner.

Can’t take Arsenal seriously with him leading the line…

As for Chambers, BBC Sport busted him – they posted his selfie with Roy Keane’s words underneath.

Here he is playing his first game of the season – a real chance – and he’s uploading content to twitter.

Doesn’t matter if it’s a matter of seconds to do this, his mind should be on Benteke and ideally repeating to himself the words “Pass to people in red shirts, NOT Brazilians in black shirts”.

That time before the game should not be spent on striking poses and social media.

Buffoon.

From Andrew – Dallas : Liverpool game

Hi Myles,

Good to see you back and engaged, writing pieces and commenting.

Arsenal v Liverpool was an entertaining open game on a horribly wet summer Monday night.

I thought on Friday that Gabriel should replace Mertesacker and partner Koscielny to combat the speed of Coutinho and the power of Benteke.

I was pleased to see him play and thought he played really well, he was strong and quick, everything Mertesacker is not, and deserves a starting place.

Chambers on the other hand, well what can you say after such a performance?

Cech played well made a couple of top drawer saves but Giroud would be completely slaughtered by many of the Arsenal fans for the Benteke miss from 3yrds when Cech saved.

Benteke won a few headers from long punts up field but you expect a £32 million striker to be a game winner and he is not.

Le Coq had an excellent game, he sat in front of the defense and broke up the play, didn’t lose the head and jump into tackles and get booked. He seems more suited to the bigger games where Arsenal are under pressure and more compact rather than when Arsenal are stretching the game and there’s more space.

Not until Ox came on did Arsenal pose a real threat with his direct running at pace style which all defenders hate. Without regular football this season he will be off. Think what he could do at Man City replacing Navas, what a threat him and Sterling would be being fed by those Silva passes week in week out???

Myles says:

Oxlade is immature. But explosive.

When he stops being immature, he’ll start 20 consecutive games.

From Stuart Laws :the Power of Love

A great pre-season. Individually, there are enough good players.

Even Giroud is not far off a goal every other game. We have skill, pace, experience, good tacklers, hard workers, players with desire.

I think we lack power.

Anywhere on the pitch. Could be a full back even…but there is no one on the pitch who can boss a situation. Rag doll someone.

I think you need a bit of everything. Skill and artistry are not enough.

Keown, Campbell, Vieira….Lauren even. Raw power when needed. I fancy us to beat Chelsea without Matic….Citeh without Toure. Would be an even game then.

Won’t knee jerk….but not optimistic. Pre-season is a charade.

Myles says:

When it doesn’t matter, Arsenal are tidy winners.

Asia Cup, Emirates Cup, Community Shield: Won them all.

First home game against West Ham?

Didn’t turn up.

Liverpool? Lucky to get a 0-0 draw.

LAUREN? What a player for £7 million.

Rugged, reliable and modest for 200 games.

And moving Lauren to right back was one of Wenger’s most insightful switches.
