My despair: Wenger and Kroenke are immovable

From Melvyn Segal : celebrations and selfies

Hi Myles,

I am at the point, after 50 years of Arsenal, that I look forward more to your posts (and Le Grove) than I do a match day and the trek from NW London to N5.

I am not sure if anyone has made this point, apologies if they have, but the post-match events at the Leicester game said so much about the current Arsenal malaise.

After a fortunate 96th minute winner against 10-man Leicester City, our wonderful team decided a lap of honour was appropriate, and as if that wasn’t sufficient they then took changing room selfies like the Old Arsenal celebrating in a style old Arsenal teams might have done after winning the premiership.

The celebration of this team a few seasons back after securing 4th place was of the same ilk.

The problem is Wenger has not communicated or possibly understood what true success is these days (winning the Champions League or Premiership are the only true measures of success for a team of Arsenal’s stature and financial muscle).

Sadly Arsene’s measure, which aligns seamlessly with our principal owner, is 4th place and ££££££’s profits.

I am at the point of despair as I cannot see anyway out of this cycle as both the owner and Arsene are immovable.

Whilst it is totally unimportant, I noticed against Swansea that despite the extreme cold the radiators at Club Level were turned off and having used them in past seasons to warm my old bones, the only reason I could think for this policy change was to make further £££££’s at the expense of the fans.

On a far better note check out The Rails. They are a brilliant band (James Waleboune (a gooner) and Kami Thompson (daughter of Richard and Linda) – they give 90 mins of pure entertainment and are both incredibly talented, so quite unlike the current Arsenal team !!

Best wishes,

Melvyn

Thanks for keeping in touch, Mel. It’s great to hear from you again.

I wish everyone’s smartphone emails were as well typed and punctuated as yours.

There will soon come a time ( next Monday) when I will ignore all unpunctuated emails.

Life is too short.

Yes, I am a teacher. But not that sort of teacher.

Tragic to see proof that Wenger has assembled a squad of clueless narcissistic tossers.

Did you know that the Arsenal Under-21s now play in  Division 2 of their league!
