From Don Fredericks : A change
Hi Myles,
I have to say, the mood of this blog has changed since RVP and Song’s departure.
You are sounding like an actual fan and getting behind this team.
To be honest, my seemingly perennially waning attitude towards the squad over the past few years has also changed over the past week; everything feels fresh. Out with the old; in with the new, no matter how talented the old was.
I’ve always said that if you get 11 men who want to play and who want to win you will win trophies, regardless of the amount of acclaim they generate from the neutral public.
Arteta, Wilshere, Cazorla, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Giroud, Podolski, Vermaelen and Sczcesny want to stick around and challenge for honours. These players make up the core line in any formation.
You’re being a bit hard on Giroud, because I honestly don’t think he will be as bad as Bendtner or Chamakh.
Even when Chamakh scored in his first few outings, and even when Bendtner scored that corner goal against Tottenham all those years ago, there was something that screamed “static” about them.
Giroud doesnt seem that “static”. Judging from the interviews this is a player who had to work hard to get where he is and has an intelligent head on his shoulders. Whether he can efficiently convert that intelligence into movements in the Premier League is what I want to find out.
Keep writing Myles, I’m getting charged up by your articles!
Myles says :
You’re getting carried away,Don.
Just ease into the season.
When it’s time to get excited, I’ll let you know by private email.
Until then, please keep your feet on the ground and remember that we’re ONE GAME into a very long football marathon.
If Arsenal win at Stoke on Sunday, you can jump off your sofa and punch the air.
The Gunners will be unbeaten after 2 games.
If they win an Anfield you can howl with glee and shout,” Are you watching, Bill Shankly?”
FULL DISCLOSURE : Yes, I’m in mellow mood but it’s got nothing to do with football.
