From Andy Pinker:
Hey Myles,
Hope you and yours are all well.
I’ve been getting info in the last week about Wenger and the disagreements he’s apparently had with Gazidis, Chips, and possibly Josh Kroenke.
From what I’m hearing, after the Palace defeat, and the reaction to it from the Arsenal fans, plates have shifted…..I’m hearing from various sources that individuals with a lot of clout have seen enough and want change.
Obviously we have all seen the Wenger interview re a ” director of football “…..and how he ridiculed it…..( the thought of such a thing must give him nightmares…..)
I’m going to stick my neck out here. From what I’ve heard, the only way Wenger has even a slight chance of keeping things as they are, is if we somehow get top four, and he wins the FA Cup.
Personally, I don’t think either will happen. Chelsea will beat us comfortably and therefore he will leave at the end of the season.
He’s really put his neck on the line in that last interview..
Could he be so desperate at the end of the season and say he’ll put up with whatever changes must happen? After what he said on Tuesday about the DOF thing……how could he then turn round and accept it ?
He’s looking more and more like a desperate man clinging onto power any way he can.
Myles says:
Yes, Wenger and Gazidis are at war.
Juventus, Bayern, Barcelona and Real Madrid all do well with a Director of Football AND a coach.
So do Sevilla and dozens of other clubs.
But King Wenger, the greatest polymath to ever use a ref’s whistle, says he hates that model.
Unfortunately, this morning my brain has been scrambled by a series of phone calls.
So the blog pieces I could have written today have all gone up in smoke.
I had plenty to say at 10 a.m. and 11 and 12.30 but I’m not in that place any more.
Is tomorrow another day?
Maybe.
It’s now 1.25 pm and I’m lucky
I’ve got choices re : what to do for the rest of Thursday.
