From Idriss Lamare :
Deja vu, no?
Hope you had a chance to read that interview in Complex mag with Gibbs and Walcott.
Very amusing and sadly depressing.
Walcott remarked that Jens was the most intimidating person he ever played with and how did he deal with him? He was happy that The Mad German was nice to him.
Even more interesting is in the dressing room any player can decide what music is played.
Roy Keane last year stated how this small detail shows a lack of leadership in any football team. No one is willing to even take responsibility for the music!
P.S. If we can snag that Polish fella Krychowiak, I will be over the moon.
Been watching him for a few years. A big mean take-no-prisoners type of player that would give this team a real spine.
Myles says:
I did my share of interviewing footballers in the 90s and before, Idriss.
So I don’t read interviews with Arsenal players or any player (not since Xavi).
That’s your job.
Mine is to watch what footballers do and don’t do on the pitch.
However, unlike most fans, I’ve spent half my life with managers. Met Sir Alex many times, Bobby Robson dozens of times, George Graham hundreds of times, Arsene Wenger hundreds of times.
This gradually became my motto: Judge them on what they do and how their team plays,
Any manager at any level has to appear confident and positive, has to give a winning impression seven days a week.
He can’t mope, can’t be negative, certainly can’t despair in public.
