Just watch Messi take Chelsea apart

I’m looking at the menu.

I’m thinking : is April the most exciting month of the season?

Chelsea v Barcelona tonight

Arsenal v Chelsea Saturday lunchtime.

Barcelona v Real Madrid on Saturday night.

News today that Robin van Persie was at the Marriott Hotel on Park Lane.

After the 2-1 defeat by  Wigan.

Robin should go to Stamford Bridge tonight.

He can score tickets off Cesc. He’d soon see that he’s not good enough to play for Barcelona.

He’s too slow.

Interestingly, in six matches against English clubs, Messi has not scored.

I’d say : this is a different Messi.

This is a monster Messi, an  unplayable, unstoppable, mature, legendary  Messi.

Ronaldo can be stopped. Messi can’t be stopped.

Not even by a waist-high tackle like the one Del Horno was red carded for near the corner flag. That was grievous bodily harm, a level of  gratuitous violence that has no place in football or any other sport.

Chelsea, a powerful and experienced side, will struggle to contain the physicality of Alexis, the finesse of Xavi and the deadly power in Messi’s left foot.

His shooting is lethal right now. His shots are fast and deadly. And his trickery is surreal at times.

Barca can scored from breakaways, from crosses, from inter-passing, from half-chances, from headers.

And they don’t have to win tonight.

CHELSEA had a dramatic 4-1 victory over Napoli and I said that was the last hurrah of the old guard.

I said that you’ll never again see a big game with goals by Lampard, Terry, Drogba and Ivanovic.

Remember :   Barcelona are far more confident than Napoli, far more resilient.

Barcelona are champions.

When Martin Atkinson gave a goal that wasn’t a goal against Spurs, he ruined at FA Cup semi-final.

Chelsea’s finishing was clinical as Spurs fell apart.

Chelsea will need that luck again tonight.

But it’s only a first half.

Last night we saw a scrappy 90-minute first half in which Bayern Munich beat Real Madrid 2-1.

Mario Gomez scored the winner from three yards in the 90th minute.

How German is that! Well done, son.

It was his 40th goal of the season.
