There’s not much glue in this England team.
No ball-holder, no playmaker.
More potential for tempo football, driving forward, that for keeping the ball.
Adam Lallana is a flicky kind of player, sometimes a continuity man, sometimes a chance-maker, rarely a finisher.
If he can find Kane or Alli with a couple passes, maybe we could score.
Both are explosive,, neither is scared to miss. They are both bang!bang! players and I like them a lot
But I’m not betting on that because Lallana doesn’t produce enough. Where’s the end product? Will he ever be any better than he’s been so far?
Maybe. You never know. This might be his night.
And, let’s face it, Engerland are a lot better in friendlies than they are in tournaments.
Compare Lallana to the mean predator we call Thomas Muller.
A scruffy, spindly forward, Muller is busy and clinical, always, scrapping for balls in hitherto neglected area of the pitch, always focused, always dangerous, almost always scoring a vital goal nervelessly with boot and head.
Muller produces.
Is Roy Hodgson thinking of playing like Spurs against Russia 11 Saturdays from now?
Team in Berlin tonight:
ENGLAND : 4-2-3-1 Jack Butland; Clyne Smalling Cahill (capt) Danny Rose; Dier Henderson; Welbeck Deli Alli Lallana; Kane.
I’m building down to the kick-off at 7.45 pm kick-off on ITV and will post a further thoughts here r before 7.30.
