Goalless Arsenal go top on goal difference

44 points : Arsenal and Leicester
43 points : Man City, who stuffed Palace 4-0
39 points:  Spurs who eventually beat Sunderland 4-1

————————-

Jack Butland, the Stoke keeper, was excellent.

So was Petr Cech, as you would expect.

Flamini-Oxlade-Ramsey was a new midfield that seemed to specialise in the obvious.

Remarkably, Arsenal have only won one game at Stoke in 34 years.

Butland saved well when  Joel Campbell played in Giroud after 21.

When  Oxlade turned and shot in 29, Butland tipped over.

The first half was tedious sparring and Theo Walcott was awful on the left.He was replaced by 19-year-old Nigerian Alex Iwobi, who had some bright ideas, who brought some spark and variety to the play.

In 90, Ramsey headed a ball off the line.

So while Arsenal didn’t get a goal, they got a point.

THAT PUTS THEM TOP ON GOAL DIFFERENCE.

Elneny was on the bench.

He’ll make his debut in a home game and we hope it’s soon.

My best guess is that Elneny can knock the ball around more professionally than Flamini or Oxy. Yesterday he went to Stoke. Next season he can play there.
