You could get the readers to write the 2,000 words on this one but you’ve already summed it up : Arsenal have a better midfield (and since the Beckham-Scholes-Keane-Giggs powerhouse, we always have had), Man Utd have a better defence.
Man U are a George Graham Arsenal team – solid defence, work hard (if expensively assembled) midfield, pace wide and a top class striker.
We all know that in the EPL defence wins you the league year in year out…surely our quant-minded manager must notice that!
Of course, we might not pay £25m for any player, let alone a Brazilian centre back but we should probably consider competing for these players if we are serious about winning.
David Luiz and Vermaelen…surely that would suit us!
That said, we would still need our midfield and full backs to provide better protection.
