Two players are replacing one in a newly-developing team.
There’s only one Dennis Bergkamp, so it takes two to replace him.
Fabregas and van Persie are replacing him.
Fabregas supplies the assist-passes, and van Persie scores the goals that DB10 used to score.
Football is a team game requiring certain functions, like goal-stopping, goal-making, goalscoring.
FABREGAS is a playmaker who needs a minder and the risk tonight is that Song is a kid as well.
Teenager Cesc is the oil in the Arsenal machine, the guy who keeps the team flowing forward, but he has often played with Pires and Bergkamp, who do not start tonight, as Alexandre Song is given his chance in Gilberto’s role.
It’s a big gamble by a brave manager.
On Song, Arsene says, “It is a good opportunity to see him. He has a good knowledge of how to use his body in a fight, he is a really strong and intelligent player.”
It might be a draw tonight for that reason.
Thun are a good team but lack a world class striker because small clubs cannot afford world class strikers.
They have to make up for the lack of a reliable finisher by having a great team ethic and playing intelligently.
SIR ALEX is so jammy !
Villareal come to Old Trafford with Forlan and Riquelme both injured !
I WAS ON THE PHONE just now and the postman knocked on the door to deliver a book.
Ripped open the cardboard to see what it was.
LED ZEPPELIN – the Concert File. By Dave Lewis and Simon Pallett.
If I get time later today I will look up the dates of the only 2 Zep gigs I saw : The Lyceum, just before the second album came out, which was the first time that a British rock group had charged £1 for a ticket.
I think that was the case, although I did not pay to get in.
And the Albert Hall, where the last four riff-numbers sent me stumbling down Kensington Gore suffering from sensory overload.
