Swansea’s Vorm throws the ball to Arshavin/ No Haphash Dexter

Arsenal 1 Swansea 0

Arshavin 40

A mild September day and fantastic seats on the halfway line.

A perfect playing surface. But such a depressing performance.

We waited for the Overground at Highbury & Islington, father and son together after a dismal match.

Myles : “We finished the game with eleven men and three points.”

Michael : “That’s your match report.”

The goal was a gift by Vorm, the keeper.

He threw the ball to Arshavin, who stroked the ball into the net after making a small shrugging gesture, as if to say: Why the hell did he do that?

Second half, the crowd was restless, cheesed off, angry, frustrated.Like us, they were underwhelmed.

Arsenal have no strikers.

The strikers were clueless. The strikers were crap. Totally crap. RVP lumbered about like a WW1 artillery piece, as if drawn by a horse. The bang!bang! striker went bang! just once and clipped the outside of the post.

He was awful. He was pitiful. He was embarrassing and I was hoping Park would come on.

When I saw Chamakh warming up, I thought, “If he comes on, I\’m leaving.” He came on and headed a Gibbs cross straight at the keeper.

I thought : Dortmund will be quaking in their boots when they see this DVD.

Back home at 6pm, Jan made me a pot of tea.

I switched on ESPN and Man United were winning 3-0.

That contest was over, so I switched to Barcelona, who were 2-0 up at Real Sociedad, Xavi and Fabregas having scored early goals.

Then Sociedad made it 2-2 and it was interesting, a proper football match.

It was fun to watch and reminded me what the game was all about but then I paused it and we had a tasty casserole in the dining room and I said, “If I ever go to football again, this is what I want when I come home.”

Then I unpaused Barca and watched the last ten minutes but the game finished 2-2.

Borussia Dortmund seemed to take the day off.

Dortmund 1 Hertha Berlin 2.

Klopp’s boys were thinking about Tuesday and Arsenal. His team is better than that, I think.

Roll on Tuesday night and Park’s debut.

PS. Our Reviews Section was updated on Thursday night after I met Hendrix’s girlfriend.
