I spoke to Ashley Young last weekend, we were at the same party in Las Vegas.
He was a really nice guy and we asked him a lot a football-related questions, like what he thinks of Capello’s style, and what he thought of McLeish prospectively moving to Villa.
I also asked him, regarding Man U, “Are you sure you wanna sign for a club with so many plastic fans?” to which he laughed and said, “Mate, I’ll go anywhere, time to kick it with the big boys.”
I said “Would you go to Arsenal?”
He said, “Yeah, wouldn’t get in their team though. More of a chance in the other Champions League teams. ”
On the topic of speaking to footballers, I spoke to Chris Samba at the 2009 Blackburn Rovers Xmas bash in Stockholm.
I told him, “I’d love you to sign for Arsenal. You’re just the type we need!” to which he said, “Playing for Arsenal? Only in my dreams.”
Samba’s a humble, honest guy yet also a fierce warrior.
He’s a heavily under-rated CB, in my opinion he’s in the top 5 in the Prem. Would love it if we signed him!
