Arsenal’s next manager should be this winner

From Neil : the next Arsenal manager

Hi Myles,

Saw that you did not post after the Watford defeat – might be you are being drowned by dissatisfied supporters venting their spleen!

I would like to focus on the case for Frank De Boer to be the next Arsenal manager, whenever Arsene leaves.I have been saying this for 3 years – and this is my reasoning.

1. Club Culture. AW has dominated everything at Arsenal for 20 years, meaning that when he goes there will be a huge hole covering everything. Arsenal needs someone to come in and change a lot of things.

The Ajax model would be my preferred method, bringing in players from the past but look into have a winning culture throughout, while also promoting from what needs to be a successful youth structure.

2. DB10. As his assistant manager at Ajax, if coming back to Arsenal Bergkamp would immediately get Arsenal fans excited to have him back – always good to start with goodwill of the fans in place. I would hope as part of the model we could integrate a few others from the successful past into the club as well.

3. Attracting players. FDB and DB – what else do you need to attract players to one of the largest clubs in Europe (apart from massive wages of course)?

4. Winning mentality. Although the Dutch league may not be seen as the most difficult, there is the possibility that Ajax might this season win the league for the 5th time under De Boer. Nothing is guaranteed but he was a winner as a player and is a winner as a manager.

Ultimately any new manager may or may not be successful but by putting in a new structure that would come in with De Boer, I hope that Arsenal can prepare to be successful again in the future.

Myles says :

If I was religious I’d pray for that to happen.

Regime change is long overdue.

One of my savviest friends went out to dinner in Paris after the Champions League Final in 2006 and talked about replacing Wenger that summer.

He talked seriously, not frivolously.

He saw the future.
