Arsenal fifth behind Man U and Spurs? You’re ‘avin a Turkish bath

From Brendan Melck :

Hi Myles,

I just wanted to react briefly to Goonergerry’s predictions.

Tottenham and Man United ahead of Liverpool and Arsenal?

I watched Man United play Newcastle on television on Wednesday and they were truly dire. I don’t know how they won that.

They can squeeze out wins somehow when they ought not to and have the psychological advantage of being Manchester United, which counts for something (against Arsenal in particular). But they are not good and I don’t think they’ll finish in the top four.

Tottenham, as I predicted after Arsenal lost to them, will not play a game like the wins over Arsenal and Chelsea again this season. So far, they have proven me right, and I don’t think that will change.

The teams which are far more likely on current form to finish in the top 4 are Arsenal and Liverpool.

Louis Van Gaal’s Manchester United shocked me by how bad they are. They are stunningly graceless, without fluency, and make Arsenal look like quite a good team, which is saying something. However, Arsenal under Arsene Wenger almost never plays well against Man United, and I fully expect that Arsenal will lose to Manchester United in the Cup. But the league is different – Man United are so mediocre, they are going to get beaten quite a few times before the season’s end.

Cheers!

Good old Gerry, bless him.
It’s hard not to ‘wince’ reading that. Haha

From Leo :  Goonergerry’s comments

Myles,

Sorry to say, you’ve been had, my friend.

Goonergerry is clearly no Gooner, he blythly dismisses Arsenal as not being Top 4 material whilst conveniently ignoring the failings of other teams around us.

He claims Arsenal have won none of the big games and uses this as evidence as to why they won’t win any for the rest of this season.

Has he forgotten Citeh away?  AWAY!

Apparently the Arsenal midfield can’t dominate games.  Weird, how does a team with a weak midfield even get anywhere near the Top 4?

Sorry Myles, you’ve been had by a Sp*rs troll my friend.

Sad it happens, but it does

From Soop : Goonergerry is anti-Wenger gone mad

Hi Myles

As you may know from my previous contact, I’m very much in the “Wenger out” camp.

However, whilst it’s easy to slate the AKB-brigade as being naive and blind to the reality of our situation, it’s just as easy for anti-Wenger fans to be blinded by their own dislike of the manager.

Goonergerry’s email is a perfect example of this.

This Arsenal team are CAPABLE of beating the top teams, or has he already forgotten our performance up at the Etihad recently.

City are still the reigning champions last time I checked. It was a superb performance. Admitting that doesn’t mean you suddenly love the manager.

What this Arsenal team is INCAPABLE of doing is SUSTAINING that level of performance.

Case in point: Monaco. However, the only consistent team in the PL right now is Chelsea and the table reflects that.

Every team below Chelsea fighting for 2nd/3rd/4th has major flaws and weaknesses, and it’s the 3 teams that can manage their own flaws the best that will claim those positions.

With all his flaws – well documented here – Wenger’s team is still the 3rd or 4th best team in the league over a season. It’s getting much tighter now, but Spurs are simply NOT better than us, neither are Liverpool.

We have problems and our manager is an arrogant dictator, but he still gets it right some of the time. We need to recognise that.

From Linus : Goonergerry!?

So United, Chelsea and Liverpool only have to beat Arsenal for Arsenal to fall down the table to 5th!?

I guess as far as he is concerned both United and Pool don’t have to play each other!? And they both won’t be playing Chelsea!? (or any other top team like Citeh)

“Clutch” games indeed!!

Silly reasoning!!

Myles says:

If Man City were a  top team they’d be in the Round of 16.
