Arsenal 2016: the agony and the atrophy

From Norrie :

Hi Myles,

Wow.

“The squad is full of attacking midfielders;  Willock, Gnabry, Maitland-Niles etc all hoping to be at least bench selections from the start of next season, the competition is intense.

That’s intense? Here’s me thinking the midfield was atrophic.

Wenger has this cute little strategem of naming players as a solution. Sure, we’ve got Theo, Ox, Ozil, Xhaka, Coquelin, Ramsey, etc, etc, ad infinitum.

But when was the last time any more than two of these played consistently and to their full potential? And – here’s a thing – within a system that looked as if it had prior planning?

And now we’re back into Wenger dreamland scenario number two: the internal solutions! It used to be the policy of clubs like West Ham and Palace who needed to bring youth in to supplement their squad.

Now both clubs outbid us regularly for players. And for this we left Highbury.

Intense? Deary me. Intensity is four games until the end of the season and still needing 10 points. Not something we’ll be unduly concerned about whilst the great dictator still remains at the helm,

What was that noise? Oh, it’s only the annual ‘Wilshere out for 5 days’ alarm. See you in the Spring, Jack.

Intense? Please! Spare me the bollocks.

Let’s talk again when this club is serious, rather than the travesty it’s long since become.
