ANR reply : Fabiano/Henry handball correspondence is now closed

Dear Myles,

Quote: “I had  a lot of mail about Luis Fabiano and Henry. You know where I stand on that. I like Luis Fabiano”

You like Luis and dislike Henry, fine. Football is about firm opinion. I agree Henry turned into a spoilt diva, he helped to destroy Reyes. He cheated, but as you say, so do all footballers, most are moral midgets.

However, how can you have two standards on cheating? It’s to be dammed when Henry does it, and it’s understood when Fabiano does it.

Nor should we forget the young Henry, the one that didn’t go down in the FA Cup Final against Southampton. Henry had his moments. I take it you don’t just see the world in black and white?
Best wishes
Andy

I thought that what Thierry Henry did to Ireland was far worse than Luis Fabiano’s double handball in a game where Brazil were 1-0 up and would have won anyway. I still feel sorry for Reyes, who must be glad to be far from Henry’s contempt. Wenger did not manage that situation as a strong manager would have done. He abdicated by spoiling his star, who became a monster he could no longer control.

Mainly, the world IS grey and complicated. But I don’t have the patience to compare 14 shades of grey. That process does not come naturally to me. Others do that far better than me and more often. I’m prone to snap judgements and hope to get 7 out of 10 right. Like anybody else, I can get 7 out of 10 wrong.

I wish I had the time and temperament to explore every football controversy from all angles. Thanks for writing.
