From Nick Wade : Rory
Myles,
it was undoubtedly a sublime performance from Rory, which blew the opposition away.
I still feel Tiger’s victory in 2000 is more impressive considering the margin of victory, which was 15 shots.
The USPGA also made the fairways wider at Congressional, as they were expecting dry conditions. The wet weather helped the golfers keep it on the fairway and greens.
From Stephen Orr : Rory
We’re all very proud of Rory here in N.Ireland, but I should point out “working class” is not how anyone could describe him!
Probably from the richest 3-5% in the country.
From Bert Wright : RORY
Dead on with Rory comments, Myles.
This is the sport you live for: Brazil 1970, Nicklaus – 1986 Masters, Borg – Wimbledon 1980, Tiger – Masters 1997, Arsenal’s Invincibles 2004 and now Rory McIlroy – Congressional 2011.
This is a young guy who is going to give us years of pleasure.
Unlike Wenger’s current Arsenal who have given us six years of torture and frustration and false dawns.
That’s where the fun has gone out of being a Gooner – the sheer mediocrity of it all, the required accommodation we all feel with abject serial failure.
From Stuart Laws : Rory-ng Arsenal
What did Rory do before winning his pot?
Self-destruct. Bottle it. Fail in style.
Arsenal are half way there then!
From Colum : Mental strength
Dear Myles,
My point is quite brief and it relates to Rory McIlroy.
Rory’s collapse at the Masters was difficult to watch and could have been detrimental to his career.
Accordingly, Rory’s performance in the recent U.S. Open displayed GENUINE ‘Mental Strength”.
