From Roman : Wenger on his 20 years in charge
Hi Myles,
Not sure if you noticed what Arsene said on his 20 years in charge (Friday’s press conference).
Asked what advice would he give himself if he went back to 1996, he came with two advices but the one which I think captures his last 10 years in charge is: “The other advice I would give him would be, ‘Stick to what you believe is right and behave inside the club like it’s your own club. With every decision you make, you have to decide whether it’s a decision for the good of the club’.”
This is just amazing….he’s been doing it at least for the last 10 years and would advise himself to keep on doing it.
What more can you say...it has been one-man show and the current good run gives him the back-up to re-affirm Arsene FC status.
Beauty!
Myles says:
Ivan Gazidis was astounded at how much power Wenger has.
Whatever happens this season, I don’t see him leaving Arsenal.
He thinks: I am the club.
He’s a politician and a policy maker.
He sells the future more cleverly than anyone in human history. When he becomes unpopular and it’s time to sell a future with himself stepping down next summer, he talks about leaving. But he doesn’t mean it. He’ll never go. He’ll never hand over power.
Against Chelsea, when his team were thrashing a hated rival by 3-0, he was waiting for the crowd to sing, “One Arsene Wenger, there’s only one Arsene Wenger!”
They didn’t. The crowd could have sung that but they didn’t.
A VERY REVEALING MOMENT: That told us how disaffected Gooners are.
However, after an impressive undefeated run in the near future, the board will announce that Arsene has signed a new three-year contract.
I’ll bet my entire vinyl collection on that.
