A comment as quick as Bellerin/ Big nights

From Ben: A Comment As Quick As Bellerin

Arsenal 2-0 Bayern.

I said this many time before: We have the best squad since the Invincibles.

There’s no Almunia (Christ), Djourou, Squillaci, Silvestre, Clichy, Denilson, Gervinho, Arshavin, Bendtner, Chamakh, etc…..You get the point. (It’s actually amazing AW kept us in the top 4 with such mugs).

But here’s what we now have:

We actually have world class players scattered around the starting 11. We have focus and drive. We have team cohesion. We have proven winners of World Cups and FA Cups.

And we have a real chance this year to do something special.

From Jonny Cooper : Big nights

Myles,

Years ago you wrote about the need for the Emirates to enjoy big nights.

We’ve just had two. In two weeks.

It’s been a long time coming

Myles says :

Arshavin was useless at Anfield.

He only scored four goals. If he’d scored five, Arsenal might have won.

Tuesday was a rocking night because it was an emergency.

A must-win Matchday 3 that forced Wenger to change his swarm-football gameplan.

Arsenal sat back and didn’t concede for 77 minutes, then Manuel Neuer made the blunder that he makes too frequently.

On his line, and outside his penalty area, he’s often superb. On a diagonal free-kick like that, Neuer flaps regularly.

If you  always have the ball, you can never counter-attack and use the speed of your three fastest players.

On Matchday 4 in Munich, Arsenal should play the same way and scrap for a draw.

Petr Cech was always positioned perfectly. He never moves too soon and always knows what to do to minimise the chance of conceding.

Jens Lehmann was 33 when he came in the summer of 2003 and he joined Stuttgart in 2008 and Cech came in 2015.

That’s seven stupid years without a goalkeeper.

London’s biggest football club had dodgy keepers for seven years.
