Illiasu Shilla, the Ghana centre back who shone in the World Cup is on trial with Arsenal.
His full name is Shilla Illiasu Alhassan or Shilla Eliasu Al-Hassan and was born 20 June 1983 and currently plays for Asante Kotoko.
He attracted interest from Man U and Hamburg, but will join Arsenal on trial after they return from Austria. He also attracted interest from clubs from Germany, Turkey, Netherlands and Spain, as well as agents of companies like Nike, Puma, Adidas and Umbro. But Adidas won that battle for the World Cup at least.
Available for a reported £500,000, twenty times less than Curtis Davies, but with more World Cup experience, he played in the African Confederations Cup in 2004 and 2005.
