Arsenal in Malaysia : clarification

From Alex K : Malaysia tour – further facts

Might be worth pointing out that based on the dates in Razman’s email, the Liverpool game is the only Saturday game of the three, with Arsenal and Chelsea being midweek.

Not sure about Malaysia, but most countries in the world that might affect ticket sales, especially if people have to decide which one of the three to attend.

From Duck : re: Razman Razali

That’s because Arsenal’s game is played mid week!

The after work jam is bad enough, let alone going to the stadium that’s located in Bukit Jalil.

I just check with Nike stores, the two cheaper tickets are sold out.

I am not sure if Ticket Pro still have any left though.

I also know that not many companies are buying Arsenal tickets to bring their clients out because it’s a weekday.

Arsenal fans in Malaysia waited to see Arsenal for more than a decade and they put the game on mid week!

Liverpool generally has a bigger fan base here due to their success in the 80’s. Both Liverpool and Chelsea’s games are on the weekend.

From Shah : Arsenal in Malaysia

Re Razman’s email, in Arsenal’s defense, the game is scheduled on a weekday.

Liverpool’s match is on the weekend, so they have the advantage of out-of-town fans and the odd neutrals coming over for the game.

From Razman : Arsenal exciting Malaysia already

 Hey Myles,

I’m not trying to be a party pooper here or anything, certainly not trying to discredit any other readers writing in to ANR.

But as I promote shows here in KL, I know all the ticketing companies well, and while they don’t give me exact sales numbers of other people’s events, they do tell me how tickets are selling.

Fact is of the 3 Prem League teams coming to KL in July, Arsenal’s game is by far the weakest sales-wise.

All 3 games are organised & promoted by the same company, billing it as a “Premier League Festival”.

Arsenal 13th July, Liverpool 16th & Chelsea 21st.

3 games against the Malaysian national team, just when the country’s football is on the up after winning the S.E.Asian Cup in December 2010.

Naturally,we natives are buzzin, even though they’re friendlies.

All play at the same venue with similar if not identical ticket prices, but Liverpool’s game looks set to be the only match to fill the Bukit Jalil Stadium to the brim. 85,000 seats.

There is even talk of last-ditch plans to take bus loads of school students for free to fill up seats for Arsenal’s game.

Can’t help thinkin back to you mentioning they should have toured 5 years ago.

Just sharing

Razman Razali
