Dear Myles,
I too write like Wallace.
I believe Mr Wenger and the board are playing a long-term game, “Sitting Out” a few years as a result of the stadium move, and their knowledge that free-spending Chelsea and Man City cannot be caught during their free- spending years.
I think there is something in inducting fast younger players in a Freestyle way of playing, a style without rigid pattern, based on both total Football and a Zen philosophy of being “In the Moment”. When everyone is sharp and in harmony, this style spring the unexpected on the opposition, creates mayhem in their half.
I believe this style cannot be performed week in week out in a physically tough Premier League, so the addition of several strong experienced players is needed, especially for midweek games away to bruising Northern sides.
I think we will not win the League unless a defensive coach is brought in to help on the training ground. Hope that man is Keown, but fear that it will not happen.
Myles replies :
If Arsenal don’t win something soon, the only sound you’ll hear at the Emirates is the sound of one hand clapping.
You know my view by now. I think the present Arsene style of play is pretty but dull and predictable. A friend of mine laughs aout loud when he watches them. The style needs to be much more dynamic, varied and penetrating.
But for that you need a Torres, a Drogba, a Bergkamp, a Carlos Tevez, a Cristiano Ronaldo, a Samuel Eto’o.
Arshavin is in that class, RVP and Bendtner are not.
I will not say anything about Chamakh until I see him play.
It’s July now and I want to see Arsenal’s first 10 games. But I don’t have a fixture list that tells me their first 10 games. I only know the first one is at Liverpool on Sunday, August 15. I’ve been too busy to look further ahead than that.
