Theo Walcott answered Chris Waddle\’s criticism in the only way, writes Nigel Bidmead.
The 20 year old capped a man of the match performance against Burnley with a well taken goal (with his left foot).
During and after England\’s midweek win over Egypt Waddle accused Walcott of lacking a football brain and slated his wing play.
Waddle was a player and, in a weak field, is a decent pundit but what he was really saying is ‘Walcott is not as good as I was.\’
For the record The Mullet scored six goals in 62 England appearances. Walcott has three in eight.
Jack Wilshire became the youngest goal scorer in the Premier League this season when he scored Bolton\’s second against West Ham.
With the 18 year old on the left, CY Lee on the right and Kevin Davies outstanding Bolton were balanced, positive and far too good for West Ham.
No wonder Bolton\’s new manager Owen Coyle was so keen to take Wilshire on loan.
Porto needed two late goals to force a 2-2 draw at home to Olhanense at the weekend. It leaves them 11 points behind the leaders Benfica with eight games to play.
Six players who started against Arsenal on February 17th were rested.
Winning the Champions League is Porto’s only way of qualifying for the competition next season. It makes them dangerous and desperate.
The first goal at the Emirates will be hugely important.
