Varane & Ramos the best/ PSG come to Chelsea too late

Two main impressions on this Friday morning, after the Champions League Round of 16 arrived at last.

(1)  Varane and Ramos looked omnipotent on Tuesday when Real beat Roma 2-0.

(2)  And the unbundling of TV rights has gone too far.

PSG against Chelsea was a fascinating game and the 2-1 victory for Paris a fair result.

Zlatan scored, Mikel equalised, then Cavani came on to score the winner.

This is the third time these clubs have met & each has gone through once. They are rivals who know each other very well now. As Chelsea have slipped and stuttered, the rich boys of Paris have improved.

A two-legged European game is a story that lasts two weeks.

Nobody wants to wait till March 9th to see the Chelsea v PSG second leg.

We’ve lost the story, we’ve been allowed to disconnect from the narrative because 21 days later so much will have changed in both teams.

PS. I’m not over-rating Real Madrid’s win in Rome, since Italian football doesn’t have big money any more. Half of the Roma squad are there on loan and Totti & De Rossi are too old to start a match like this. Sad days for Serie A.
