Thierry Henry is a one-off. But so is Philippe Auclair

From ThomB : is now but not ever will be

Dear Myles,

Following your reference to Phillipe Auclair and his translation of Wenger’s response to the French journalists forgetting his 2000 final failure with one of the finest sides in Europe, I remembered an article I read a few years ago that I felt obliged to share with the good folk at ANR.

While promoting his book on Lieutenant Henry in 2012, Auclair accurately described Arsenal as a” club in stasis”, adding “but is there anybody more qualified to manage a club in stasis?”

I guess the fact I now find his assessment humorous means Arsene has brought me to Stage 7, and I have accepted that ‘it is what it is’- for now!

Looking forward to the memoirs.

Thanks for the link to the Adderley and Evans album. Thought I’d link you to this old favourite of mine.

Thanks for the links, Thom.

Very good piece which I hadn’t seen before.

Years ago I was somewhat surprised when Philippe told me, “Of all the players I’ve ever interviewed, the two who know the most about football are Jamie Carragher and Thierry Henry. “

Both are now Sky pundits.
