From Sean Byrne :
Hi Myles
No lover of Sven myself ever since the defeat at home to Benfica, but that game in Munich was a World Cup qualifier.
From Christian Smith :
I’m sure I’m the hundredth person to point out that it wasn’t a friendly.
It was a live World Cup qualifier and was the first live World Cup qualifier (as opposed to dead rubber) that Germany had lost at home.
Whatever we all think of Sven there is no denying that it was a great result.
From Jablo Aimar :
Myles,
I know your antipathy towards Sven the Fraudster, but the Germany 1-5 England was no friendly; it was a 2002 World Cup Qualifier.
And sweet revenge for Germany winning the last international at the Old Wembley.
From Paul Dixon :
Hi Myles
The victory was not in a friendly, but a World Cup qualifier, but was Sven’s greatest victory, and giver of false hope.
Myles says:
Apologies for such sloppy work.
The old beatnik should have checked that before we rushed out to Tate Modern this morning. Silly behaviour.
