Two friends went to the Labour Party football dinner at Wembley last night but I haven’t heard any gossip yet.
Sky Sports News got interviews with Kia Joorabchian and Sir Alex Ferguson.
The reporter gave the Scot a chance to put the put the boot into Arsene Wenger but the Manchester United boss didn’t fall for it.
Reporter : “Are Arsenal in danger of dropping out of the top four?”
Sir Alex : “No, no. They’ll be in the top four.”
Reporter : “Even without Thierry Henry?”
Sir Alex : “Without question, I’m more convinced that they’ll be in the top four without Henry.”
Reporter : “Why?”
Sir Alex : “I just think it was time for him to go. I think Arsene knew that. And I think they’ll be better.”
At last ! Somebody who agrees with me !
He said it diplomatically. But he said it.
Sir Alex Ferguson thinks Arsenal are more likely to be in the top four without Henry than with him.
I REST MY CASE !
Of course Arsene knew it was time for Thierry to go.
He knew that on March 7, the night of the PSV fiasco.
Arsene will never admit it but March 8 was the first day of next season.
He played 11 pre-season games in March, April and May without Henry, so he could see how his youngish team would be without their record goalscorer.
