From Chris Sycamore : The Nowhere Men
Myles,
Following your post about The Nowhere Men I may seek the book out.
As a coach of a very successful U14s team (current FA County Cup, League Cup and Divisional Cup holders – too much football but that’s another issue) I see the spotters often.
I would be good to understand more about how these people work.
Those with integrity will follow the respected route of speaking to coaches first and asking permission to engage with parents. I always talk to the parents first to see what they want to do, and if they are open to a conversation with a club or academy then it can be progressed. But then there are the unscrupulous. Those who approach a parent directly or even the player.
It would also be interesting to read if there is any mention of goalkeepers.
A unique breed of athlete and character. How does someone who attends a match prospectively looking for outfield talent understand the skills of a keeper? A good outfield can limit the ability of their own goalkeeper to shine.
From Ingham Walker : Theo Walcott
Myles ,
Thanks for the heads up on The Nowhere Men. Added to my list.
Skrtel should be banned.
Rooney can count himself lucky but Man Utd were fantastic.
Arsenal will have to play well to finish 3rd but what we see now as the top four will be the top four at the end of the season.
I have a few words on Theo Walcott. If you go by what the press says, he won’t sign a new contract because he wants more money.
My advice is sell him.
Here is why.
Robert Pires -282 games 84 goals – Loves Arsenal – How many goals of his can you remember? What about the strike against Liverpool.
Theo Walcott – 263 63 goals – How many goals can you really remember – Theo is what is wrong with football today “Greedy ill-informed agents”
My only hope is that Sterling doesn’t go the same way.
And yes Liverpool miss Suarez – he showed why in Clasico. 7 goals in his last 7 games.
From Jeff Morrison: Jammiest of jammy
I realise the game wasn’t really worth much comment, except to say that that second half was the jammiest eeking out of a victory I’ve seen in a while.
Can’t believe Arsenal escaped with all three points.
Made Cavella and Perez look like superstars
Myles says:
From what I saw, Newcastle didn’t turn up in the first half.
Walcott sees himself as a brand like Beckham.
But he can’t bend it like Beckham.
Theo runs in straight lines.
OXLADE IS BETTER.
