Rooney tweets on Suarez karate

In today’s tabloid-digital world, journalism is too often reduced  to getting two  star names into a headline.

Like the headline above this.

Twitter started as a real-time news tool that was valuable to journalists, broadcasters and the public.

Now I’m not so sure. Is Twitter a menace?

Harry Redknapp and the Spurs directors didn’t get to Anfield last night.

Their private jet was held at City Airport due to technical problems.

The  event they missed was a dismal but hard-fought 0-0 draw.

Without Van der Vaart, Kaboul, Defoe and Lennon, Spurs couldn’t penetrate.

Adebarndoor did nothing and Bale was roughed out of it by Skrtel.

So the main interest was the arrival of wicked South American  bandit Luis Suarez, who has missed the last nine games through suspension.

He last played for Liverpool on Boxing Day.

When would Suarez come on?

Is he warming up yet?

Right, now he’s warming up. It’s 0-0 but Suarez is coming on to score a goal.

He came on in 65 and in 70, with the ball bouncing around, he kicked Scott Parker in the stomach.

Suarez’s feet are so fast, and his reactions so electric, that it was hard to see exactly what happened without a replay.

He got a yellow card but Rooney tweeted that he deserved a red.

Oh dear! Manchester United’s next game is Liverpool.

On Saturday at Old Trafford.

Saha came on for Ade, Downing for Bellamy, Andy Carroll blazed over the bar. He missed the  best chance of the game.

No goals, a point each, Liverpool still below Arsenal.

Should footballers tweet?

Yes… but not during games.
