From Ivan Pavkovic : Podolski
Watching Podolski, it looks like he does a lot of the things Van Persie does.
It looks like he is more of a replacement than someone who can partner him.
From Kim Albaek : AA is a playmaker
Dear Myles,
Arsenal website gives a brief note on “how first-team stars are faring with their respective nations”.
It ´s called International Watch.
What is interesting is this: “Andrey Arshavin played the full 90 minutes of Russia’s goalless draw against Lithuania in Nyon on Tuesday night.
The midfield playmaker also played the whole of his nation’s 1-1 draw against Uruguay in Moscow on Friday”
“The midfield playmaker”?????
Russia knows, the website knows, we all know.
But Wenger does not know. AA is a midfield playmaker.
But in 133 games he was a winger in 130.
What a waste.
Hopefully he will bring Russia to the semi ´s.
Thanks for 15 years with ANR
Albaek, Denmark
Matt James: Arshavin
Midfield playmaker?
From Mel Siew : WembleyWell while it’s true, we might know, the website might know etc….. Dick Advocaat at Russia clearly doesn’t.
Arshavin hasnt played midfield playmaker for Russia for a long time.
Where does he play? Left of a front three.
Hi Myles,
I don’t dispute your recent (and past) comments that going to Wembley was a disaster on the football side, especially for two years in a row.
But it was necessary to enable the club to proceed with the new stadium project. It demonstrated that there was demand for a 60,000+ stadium.
All six home games sold out, despite being totally inconvenient and uncomfortable for fans.
Questionable to do it two years in a row perhaps, but I’m convinced that the Emirates stadium might not have happened without the Wembley experiment.
