Maybe the fresh Danny Welbeck should start at Stamford Bridge

Liverpool play Chelsea on Tuesday.

Then Chelsea play Arsenal on Saturday, as you know.

Predictably, people are saying that if Chelsea win at Anfield, and then beat Arsenal, nobody can catch them in the title race.

Danny Welbeck came back for the FA Cup tie against Southampton reserves.

Last week Claude Puel’s first eleven reached Wembley by beating Liverpool 1-0 at Anfield in the EFL semi.

First time Liverpool had ever lost both legs of a semi-final.

That’s why Claude Puel played the reserves and kids against a much-changed Arsenal side who started in high gear and played very slick football and won 5-0.

There were 13 Premier league Clubs in the 4th Round and most made loads of changes from the strongest Premier League line-ups.

Southampton v Arsenal saw 10 changes by both clubs from their previous league games

Danny Welbeck scored the first two goals as neatly as if he’d never been away, and then supplied an assist for Theo Walcott to make it 3-0.

The irrepressible and consistent Sanchez set up Walcott for his second and produced a brilliant pick-out for Theo to complete his hat-trick (as we say in footiespeak).

The Chelsea back three is likely to be Azpilicueta-David Luiz-Gary Cahill.

Azpil is very tenacious, and David Luiz is a dominating all-round athlete who likes to launch long passes to the dangerous Diego Costa, and, sometimes, to burst forward with the ball himself, opening up different passing angles.

Matic and Kante are very physical players too.

That means that Welbeck, a rugged gladiator who is always competitive, will be needed.

Otherwise, Arsenal could get battered.

This morning my Gooner greengrocer was setting up his shop with fresh fruit and veg, telling his young assistant where to dump a sack of Maris Pipers the lad had just carried from the van.

“I’ve had a premonition about tonight’s FA Cup draw, John.”

“Who did Arsenal get?”

“Man United.”

“Where at?”

“Old Trafford.”
