Three or four weeks ago I heard that Arsenal would use the AGM to make an important announcement.
Then I heard that the board were talking about a new contract for Wenger.
So I wondered if that was the announcement.
If so, why not wait to see what he wins he wins before giving him a new contract.?
Is Wenger the only man who can manage Arsenal?
No.
Absolutely not.
The world is full of football coaches.
But am I asking the wrong question?
Should the question be : With the board’s present strategy, is Wenger the only guy who can manage Arsenal? Yes.
Then I heard that Lady Nina is selling her shares to Stan Kroenke.
Stan was in London last week and we saw him at the Wigan game.
Why was he there? To talk to Lady Nina?
I don’t know.
But Stan didn’t fly 4,000 miles from St Louis to see Wigan Athletic.
Wednesday update:
A Gary Jacobs story in The Times today says Stan has bought 80 more shares at £8,500 each.
Ownership now is :
Stan Kroenke 28.7%
Alisher Usmanov (Red and White Holdings) 25%
Danny Fiszman 16.1%
Lady Nina Bracewell-Smith 15. 9%
Others 17.49%
Peter Hill-Wood 0.8%
PS from Myles : I know that adds up to 104% !
I’m having a slightly silly afternoon, actually.
But I will have some tasty stuff for you at 9a.m. on Thursday.
