In a warning to anyone who wants to leverage Arsenal into further debt, Manchester United season ticket waiting list previously estimated at 14,000 has fallen to zero, after fans faced a price increase averaging 13% – according to the Guardian.
Manchester United Supporters Trust told the paper, 6000 season ticket holders have not renewed. And ST ads are appearing on their website.
It says Arsenal have sold all of the 31,000 season tickets, and have 20,000 on the waiting list.
The story has only been up ten minutes and four ANR readers have replied saying they’ve been told the Arsenal season ticket waiting list is 10,000, 40,000 and 100,000 respectively. One reader says not all tickets have been sold. So there’s a story here, even if the Guardian quotes are inaccurate.
Arsenal season ticket prices are unchanged at £885- £1825. The Guardian graph shows them to be the most expensive in the league. But this does not compare like with like and other clubs, such as Chelsea (none) and Spurs (some) don’t include as many Cup games (thanks to Tony Gibbs). Also it doesn’t take into account London weightings, which are around 25-30% extra in some fields.
Jose Reyes has joined Atletico Madrid from Arsenal in a deal believed to be worth £8million.
Reyes, who signed a four-year deal, joined Arsenal from Sevilla in 2004 for an initial fee of £10.5m, rising to £18m. So Arsenal lost something, but not as much as some of the figures quoted.
Arsenal defender Kerrea Gilbert, 20, has completed a move to Coca-Cola League One side Southend on a six-month loan deal. “At Arsenal I’m not going to get the chance really to play this season because they have signed another right-back,” he said.
Arsene Wenger said in his post match press conference that he wants Philippe Senderos to stay at the club. “He has played very well in pre-season and is good in the air, which is important in England.” He was responding to questions about letting in goals from crosses, to which he added that it was something that has to be worked on.
Gretna have failed to agree loan terms in a bid to sign Arsenal’s goalkeeper Vito Mannone, 19.
