From Brendan:
Myles,
Your post about the owner being the biggest poison in the club is spot on.
Absolutely spot on.
It is now tedious listening to people talking about Wenger, with absolutely no contextualisation.
The owner is the biggest problem.
You ought to write a new book about Arsenal’s owners.
Myles says:
The libel law prevents me writing what I know now, let alone what I might find out while researching a new book.
British law is there to protect the rich and powerful.
Since Arsenal are 5-1 down to Bayern Munich, the second leg is meaningless.
So I hope 30,000 fans boycott the second leg.
That would send a message to the absentee owner AND the cowardly board.
If you think small, you become small.
From Brendan again :
Myles,
I’m also just reading about the apparent training ground bust-up with Sanchez.
Of course there are different ways of reading this.
It could be read that Sanchez being a true winner, a true warrior, is winding up “Wenger’s babies”, who are finally showing a bit of backbone and fighting back.
It could also be seen as Sanchez, who wants a stupid amount of money, becoming really unpopular among his teammates for his incredibly immature and petulant attitude.
Which version do you believe? Or maybe another version? Or a mix of both? Or neither.
I’m bored of it, to be honest. I really don’t have time to think about the ins and outs of people who want to be paid more in one week than I get in four years.
To use the most basic language, I can’t be arsed.
This weekend, I watched the Championship show on Channel 5.
It was good to remember what football is about.
All the best.
Myles says
I can feel your disconnect from 500 miles away.
Which version do I believe?
That Alexis Sanchez is sick of the Colney Creche culture.
He wants to play in a competitive team of serious professionals.
He’s disgusted that Arsenal’s unprofessional team didn’t turn up for a home farce against Watford and then collapsed like a paper bag in Munich.
He had a row and walked out of training on Friday.
SO HE’S GONE TO JUVENTUS ALREADY.
Good luck to him.
Up till 4.30 on Saturday I believed that Arsenal might draw 1-1 at Anfield.
Then I heard that their best player was on the bench.
The Arsenal midfield was garbage, Adam Lallana and Sadio Mane were magnificent, and Liverpool won 3-1.
Jurgen Klopp’s got Lallana fit and working for 90 minutes from midfield, rather than playing as a wide forward, as he was last season.
With Manchester United dropping two points in a 1-1 draw against Bournemouth, Saturday was a very good day for Klopp.
