Kolasinac on way | four midfielders linked | can club afford more?

No sooner has the dust just about settled on the Odergaard and Ramsdale transfers – four midfielders have been linked with Arsenal in the closing week of the transfer window.

No smoke without fire, but more believable is the exit of Sead Kolasinac to Fenherbace, with talks ongoing.

Sead Kolasinac – 78 appearances for Arsenal

He made 78 appearances since his debut in 2017, before going to Schalke on loan last season. As he has a year on his contract, a substantial salary and two or three left backs as ready-made replacements – a sale makes sense.

Seems a long time he defended his mate Mesut in an attempted robbery.

The Mirror still links Arsenal with Aouar and says a loan with obligation to buy could be on the cards. The link with James Maddison looks beyond the pale given Arsenal are having trouble shifting fringe squad players – and more than double any Aouar fee. Fichajes is reporting Real Madrid attacking midfielder, Asensio is available for over £35m and Bild is reporting Bayern’s central midfielder, Correntin Tolisso has been put up for sale for a similar fee, both linked with Arsenal. Brings back memories of late Wenger teams with six or seven creative midfielders.

How can Arsenal afford more transfers in?

*Publicly stated financial backing from the Kroenke’s following the ESL debacle

*A £120m loan from Barclays

*Season ticket money in

*Potential for loans and sales in the last week

*Highly paid players such as Ozil and Mustafi off the wage bill
