From Ingham Walker : the faces tell a different story
Greetings Myles,
It was good to see your post today which I take that you will maybe write through this next season (I hope so.)
Monkey off the back yes – Body Language from Arsenal players – yes.
What was more revealing was Terry and Jose’s body language and faces – they know that the stakes have been raised.
Jose fluffed his lines – The better team won.
Arsenal played Chelsea at their own game and beat them.
Now I don’t read too much into the result but it does show a good bond amongst the players and a passion and belief that has been missing for a long time .
I still think we are a striker short and I would love to see a world class defensive holding player. Coquelin is too rash. However that being said – I wonder if we have a chance this year.
Could this be our year?
From John : Bellerin’s run!
The Ox can make his own goals but don’t miss how important the (untracked) run by Hector Bellerin was.
He dragged Cahill away and gave Azpilicueta something else to think about. He’s a great bundle of fun and energy, young Hector.
Thought it was interesting and fair that he started instead of Debuchy.
From Haroon : Cech drills the defence
Hi Myles,
Sunday was useful for 3 things.
1. Another 90 minutes of fitness for those involved.
2. A confidence booster and getting the monkey off our backs about our Jose record, all be it short term as soon the media will label it as X number of years or games since we beat chelski in a competative game.
3. The first insight to Cech at Colney. Pitch side on BT sport were talking about how Petr Cech is constantly drilling the defence about keeping clean sheets.
Wenger didn’t deny it. He says all keepers do it.
Early last season WS tried to organise the defence for a last minute corner.
Gary Neville said “He hasnt got a scooby doo, he’s making them all panic” Petr was cool as ice from the moment he was film arriving into the stadum to the second we saw him walk off the pitch.
Some things money cant buy. but what a buy he is.
Glad the seasons starting soon. I dont expect wenger to sign anyone else, the squads to big. Benzema is a dream and just that.
But I can see Jose getting another 1 at least, same with Citeh and I suspect United will get another 3 (De gea replacement, Pedro and a CF) because right now they are an injury to Rooney away from being 6th.
Myles says:
Jens Lehmann left in 2008, so you’ve had seven years without a great goalkeeper.
Seven years without a great keeper.
Seven wasted years.
Seems longer to me.
Feels like nine self-defeating, frustrated years .
