If Porto stop Fabregas, do Porto beat Arsenal?

If Porto stop Fabregas, will they beat Arsenal tonight?

Don’t know much about the present Porto side.

They sold  Lisandro Lopez to Lyon for 24m euros and sold midfielder Lucho Gonzales to Marseilles for 18m euros. So they sold their best two players.

Beto is a decent midfield scuffler. Denilson is a mate of Hulk, a striker who is no better than those Arsenal face every Saturday.

Can Porto stop Fabregas? That’s the $64,000 question in the Dragao tonight.

If they stop Fabregas, and Porto beat Arsenal over two legs, where are we? If Porto knock Arsenal out in the Round of 16, where is Wenger’s Great Youth Project? If he won’t sign the finished article, and won’t teach defence, and Fabregas leaves in the summer, where are we? How will Arsenal fill their 149 boxes with this manager? Does a leopard change his spots at the age of 60?

I’m pacing myself this season, scaling down my football obsession for various reasons. I’ve done what I can here and may still blog the World Cup, as I’ve blogged previous World Cups since 1998.

But I’m finding that I don’t have much to say about Arsenal these days. I reckon I’ve said it all. I’m lacking the inspiration/motivation to say any more. This team has to prove that it’s still worth writing about.

Jan’s just come home and said she’s booked me in for a jab at 2.50 pm. We’re taking a city break and she’s had a Hepatitis A & typhoid jab and says I must have the same and that means I’m going the gym right now, rather than this afternoon.
