L’Equipe has reported that Arsenal have made a formal enquiry for Kante, and also want Mahrez.
For me, Riyad Mahrez would not fit into Wenger’s multi-pass choreography.
Right now, they don’t use what he has.
Arsenal don’t attack with one striker, they attack with seven passers.
And Mahrez is married to a Leicester girl.
Kante, who has a £20m release clause, is the fastest midfielder I’ve seen since the jet-heeled Lassana Diarra at Chelsea.
Since he began to play for France, he has become a playmaker as well as a ball-winner and could now play in any team.
Did Gilles Grimandi, Arsenal’s French scout, miss those two at Caen & Le Havre?
Maybe Grimandi recommended them but Wenger dithered, as he often does. Being terrified to make a mistake, Wenger needed David Dein told hold his hand during big transfers like Marc Overmars
If Grimandi didn’t scout Kante or Mahrez, or didn’t recommend them, he should be loaned to Leicester for a couple of years to learn how to discover gems.
Arsenal should, of course, pay his wages while he’s there.
