CORRECTED: I’d be surprised if Arsenal beat Crystal Palace tonight

Palace v Arsenal is at 8.pm.

And I think Arsenal could get a draw.

Be surprised if they won it.

But I wouldn’t be surprised if they lost it.

Why? Because Zaha has been on fire recently.

He’s a greyhound who can race away from you in centrefield. And Zaha can beat defenders in the box and score and win penalties.

Remarkably, Roy Hodgson has stabilised Palace very quickly and got them playing some good football. A 1-0 win tonight would lift them above Newcastle, Southampton and Stoke.

Of course, Arsenal have better players and a much stronger bench.

So Palace will have to attack and score and keep attacking to have any chance of a draw.

But hey, who knows? Holiday football throws up some crazy results.

Even Man City struggled last night. Newcastle held them to 0-0 for 31 minutes And Newcastle had lost their last four home games. Kevin De Bruyne found Raheem Sterling with a ball through the left side of the box and, from a narrow angle, Raheem improvised a preposterous finish with the sole of his left boot. Despite many penetrating attacks, saves and near misses, that was the only goal City were able to score.

In English football, Christmas marks the halfway stage and that’s when I start to really look at the stats: after 19 or 20 games.

Burnley, who are just below Arsenal, have won four of their 10 away games and lost two.

After nine away games, Arsenal have won two and lost four. And Arsenal have only scored nine goals in nine away games. Spurs have scored 18 in nine away games.

Firepower is very important in football. If you also know how to defend, it’s what wins trophies.

CORRECTION : George Graham won the Coca Cola Cup for Spurs in 1999, beating Leicester and in 2008 Juande Ramos won the League Cup by beating Chelsea 2-1.

While Harry Kane grabs all the headlines, they are far from a one-man team. Dele Alli and Son have been scoring regularly. If midfield powerhouse Wanyama comes back and plays 18 games, and Eriksen stays fit to open up the avenues, Spurs will finish above Arsenal again.

Please note: Tottenham’s next three games are West Ham (H), Liverpool (H) and Southampton (A).
Arsenal’s next two games are West Brom (A) and Chelsea (H).
